2008 RUF Rt12

Aficionados of RUF will know that the company has been in a unique position to source body shells directly from Porsche and then create its own individual interpretation of a highly capable sports car. All RUF-manufactured cars come with a VIN that starts 'W09' since the company is recognised as a manufacturer in its own right by the German authorities.

The RUF Rt12 was the company's first model to be based on the Porsche 911 997 platform. A twin-turbocharged, 3.6 litre flat-six cylinder 560 bhp engine based on the earlier 996 was offered by RUF but a bored-out and de-stroked 3.8 litre option was also available producing around 685 bhp (511 kW) to 737 bhp (550 kW) depending on options in order to satisfy customers demanding more performance and hardcore handling than a Porsche 911 Turbo and GT2.

The RUF 3.8 litre version revs to 7500 rpm and has completely different driving characteristics in comparison to a Porsche 997 Turbo and GT2. The bodywork of the Rt12 was especially developed by RUF to increase down-force and therefore improve high-speed stability which was additionally enhanced by a suspension system of the company's own design. The RUF Rt12 can be easily identified compared to the standard Porsche 997 Turbo by the air intakes on the upper rear quarter panels that provided additional cool air for the twin turbos.

The left hand drive 2008 Rt12 offered for sale here on behalf of the current owner is a very rare rear wheel drive version (most RT12's built were AWD) and has the following specification:-
