1992 Porsche 911 (964) Carrera RS - SOLD!

In 1992, Porsche introduced a super-lightweight, rear-wheel-drive only version of the 964 dubbed Carrera RS for the European market. It was based on Porsche’s 911 “Carrera Cup” race car and gave a nostalgic nod to the 2.7 and 3.0 RS and RSR models.

It featured a revised version of the standard 3.6 litre engine, code-named M64/03 within the company, with an increased power output of 260 bhp (194 kW; 264 PS) and a lightweight flywheel coupled to the G50/10 transmission with closer ratios, asymmetrical Limited Slip Differential with steel syncromesh. a track-oriented suspension setup with 40 mm (1.6 in) lower ride height, stiffer springs, shock absorbers and adjustable stabilizer bars without power steering.

The RS was built with a minimalist interior that excluded power windows, rear seats, air conditioning, cruise control and sound system. New bucket-style front seats were fitted, the bonnet was made of aluminium, the chassis was seam-welded and sound deadening was omitted. The wheels were made of magnesium alloy and the glass was thinner in the doors and rear window. The Carrera RS is approximately 345 pounds (155 kg) lighter than the standard version Carrera 2 model.

Porsche launched the RS with the following specification:-

Power: 191 kW/260 hp (SAE net) at 6,100 rpm
Torque: 312 N·m/230 lb·ft at 4,800 rpm

The left hand drive 911 Carrera RS we have on sale here was manufactured in 1992, supplied in Germany by Porsche Zentrum Fulda and is finished in Porsche Black with a black and grey leather interior with red seat belts.

The odometer is showing 165480 kms and there is a huge history file which goes a long way to providing the best kind of provenance you could wish for in a car of this age.

There are copious invoices for work carried out in Germany until 1997 when the car was imported into the UK by the last recorded keeper. Since then the car has had the highest level of attention which is backed up by a stack of invoices from Porsche specialists and old MOT certificates which shows that no expense was spared by the last keeper of the vehicle.

The car is in overall excellent condition and the original 17” magnesium wheels appear to have been refurbished at some time recently.

A full and comprehensive service was carried out by Maundrell and Co Ltd in December 2016 which included the following:-

The current MOT expires in March 2018.

In addition all of the panels are original plus chassis, engine and transmission are all correct matching numbers.
